We're a group of independent Power Systems Professionals that support the power infrastructure of telecom and data facilities.

Our History

Throughout the industry we noticed that many power system owners depended on the manufacturer to "engineer" their needs - this usually fails - unless the manufacturer also "installs" the equipment, (the most costly choice the owner can make). Like it or not a manufacturer wants to sell its hardware and may not be able, (or willing) to offer solutions that utilize what the owner ALREADY HAS.

Some owners look to a trusted installer to "engineer" the plant for them - this usually requires the installer to be somewhat "clairvoyant" because - while the owners have growth expectations they are uncertain of the power required tomorrow. The installer conscientiously assembles a scope of work that is usually a "best guess" for existing needs and some growth. However most of these "improvised" designs, miss crucial items such as cable management and power distribution. These problems may not become apparent until its too late. Aggravating this condition - some owners offer the installer prepared SOW to other installers for "bid" - Hardly a winning process for either party! The installer does the prep work for a competitor - and - the power system owner gets an inferior plan.

Our Process

For small firms the TOPS process consists of:

1) A survey of the site and the preparation of a report to the system's owner that describes our findings and recommendations -

2) The preparation of a detailed scope of work that can be presented to any qualified installer, (perhaps during a walk through). The SOW consists of sketches drawings and material lists that the contractors will use to prepare their "bid". The cost of preparing the SOW is estimated by TOPS and subject to the owner's approval and Purchase Order.

3) With the SOW in hand the owner can manage the project directly - or ask TOPS to prepare a PM Estimate to conduct the project from bid to as built. When TOPS is retained as a Project Manager all MOPs, meetings, Transition or "hot" work are reviewed, verified and coordinated with the owners/managers or their NOC. In order to maintain its impartiality, TOPS Technologies LLC does not profit from the sale of any material or labor. While we may recommend a product or a contractor to the power system owner - the owner buys the needed materials and labor. As a Project Manager, TOPS will track shipments, coordinate deliveries, schedule contractors and provide on going status.

With larger firms, (those with Power Engineering Resources), the process is simpler. TOPS adapts to their process. Our mission is to supplement their power resources - while we may have "ideas" on a solution - the methods, and outcome must always meet or exceed the owner's established standards. We "talk" their language - and the dialects of their contractors, vendors and managers.

Our Record

In our short history we have been able to support our clients by providing technical support for power restoration in the gulf after hurricane Katrina and designs that save - by better utilizing the plant the client already owns. Our diagnostic services have been utilized by telecommunications owners, (Military & Civilian) nation wide.
